Business License: CITY CODE FOR BUSINESS LICENSES

Any business operating within the city Limits of Clinton is required to obtain a city business license: 

Those businesses pay a fee based on the number of employees operating within the city limits. Businesses must not open or operate without obtaining a license and meeting all requirements. All new locations require an approved City inspection before open to the public.

Note: All food related business are required to pass inspection from the Health Department (660-885-8193) before opening for business.

BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATION 

Liquor License: CITY CODE FOR LIQUOR LICENSES 

The applicant must be of good moral character, a qualified legal voter and a taxpaying citizen of a city, county, town, or village of this state. The application for a liquor license provides a checklist of items required to obtain a license within our municipality. State liquor licenses are also required. State licenses are obtained from the State Division of Liquor Control.
Business must not sell alcohol until both State and City Liquor Licenses have been obtained.

LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION 

Garage Sale Permit:

Residents of the City of Clinton are required to have a permit in order to have a garage sale. The reason for requiring this permit is to prohibit continuous garage/yard sales in a residential neighborhood. NOTE: If the sale is during a city wide garage sale event, a permit is not required.

City Code Sec. 36-172. - Garage sales.        
(a)  Garage sale means the offering for sale various items of personal property, on property zoned and/or occupied as a residence, the seller being the owner or occupant of said residence.
(b)  No person shall conduct a garage sale within the city limits without first obtaining a permit from the city clerk. Permits issued shall be valid for two consecutive days between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
(c)   Garage sale permits shall be displayed in a prominent place on the premises for which the permit was issued.
(d)  No more than four garage sales per year, nor more often than one every 60 days, may be held by the same person or at the same location.
(e)  Signs advertising garage sales shall not be affixed to or placed on public sidewalks, traffic signs, power poles or other public facilities. Signs shall not be placed off-premises without permission of the property owner upon whose property the sign is placed. Such signs shall not be erected sooner than two days prior to the day of the sale, and all signs shall be removed within 24 hours after the garage sale ends.
(f)   The code enforcement officer for the city is hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of this section and is authorized to issue summonses, directing the individual to appear in municipal court, for violations actually observed and occurring in the presence of the code enforcement officer. The code enforcement officer is not authorized to make arrests or given authority not specifically authorized herein.

City Garage Sale Permit may be obtained from the City Collector at City Hall. There is not a fee for this.

Golf Cart / UTV Permit: CITY CODE FOR UTV PERMITTING 

To obtain a City permit to operate a Golf Cart or UTV on City streets, you must apply at City Hall in person. You are required to have a valid driver’s license and insurance on the UTV. There is a $15 fee. The permit is valid for two years. Your Golf Cart or UTV MUST COMPLY with the requirements in ORDINANCE 3934
