Our Commitment to the Community
The Clinton Police Department is committed to serving our city with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. We believe true public safety is built on trust and partnership, and we strive to strengthen those bonds every day. Our officers are trained to respond with fairness, to de-escalate when possible, and to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Accountability and transparency are central to how we operate. We hold ourselves to high standards and make every effort to be open with the community about our work and the challenges we face. By listening, engaging in honest conversations, and being responsive to community concerns, we aim to earn the confidence of those we serve.
Most importantly, we are your neighbors. We live, work, and raise our families here too. That’s why we are dedicated not only to protecting Clinton, but also to building relationships and making this a safe, welcoming, and caring place for everyone.

Body Worn Camera Information
The Clinton Police Department is proud to utilize body-worn cameras as part of our continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism. These cameras not only capture valuable evidence but also strengthen trust by documenting officer interactions with the public.
Who Uses Body-Worn Cameras
All uniformed patrol officers within the Clinton Police Department are equipped with body-worn cameras. These cameras are activated during calls for service and other law enforcement interactions to provide an accurate record of events and help ensure accountability for both officers and community members.
Body-Worn Camera Policy
The Clinton Police Department’s body-worn camera policy was developed with input from local stakeholders, prosecutors, and law enforcement best practices. The policy outlines when cameras must be activated, how footage is stored, and how recordings are reviewed or released in accordance with Missouri law.
Video Requests
Members of the public may request body-worn camera footage through the Clinton Police Department. Requests will be reviewed and fulfilled in accordance with Missouri’s Sunshine Law and applicable exemptions. There may be a cost associated with body-worn camera footage requests.
Access to Body-Worn Camera Footage
The Clinton Police Department and the Henry County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are committed to transparency while maintaining the integrity of investigations. Under Missouri’s Sunshine Law (Subsection 2[2]), BWC footage involving a possible crime is closed during an active investigation and until the related case is concluded, unless otherwise ordered by a court.
In some cases, Missouri law requires notice to individuals shown in the video before footage can be released. Because of this process, requests for body-worn camera footage may take time to complete.
